The Dam

I’d be a man, in a dam
everything automatic
a hill-side of concrete
vibrating under my feet
a warm control room
where I could tune-up some dials
and make for more energy, or lessthere in front of me
a vast body of water
the stillness of its waiting power, raw
there behind me, maybe a trickle
maybe a rushing river, sweeping everything
free running water, exuberant
I could listen to its song for hours
